Wireless Mobile Labs
More students are experiencing the benefits of technology-based learning with Apple’s Wireless Mobile Labs. Because Wireless Mobile Labs offer complete solutions that combine the freedom of portable computers with the power of the Internet, they’re the ideal choice for schools that need additional mobile computing resources. Now, instead of students having to move from the classroom to the lab to use the latest technology, the computer lab comes to them — in one simple, affordable, rolling solution.
Beachwood
Middle School, Beachwood, OH
As a recipient of regional and national awards for
academic excellence, Beachwood has always recognized
the value of technology to provide a quality educational
experience. By using iBook wireless mobile labs as
an intermediate step, teachers and students were
ready to move on to the next level — designing
what would be a national model for teaching and learning,
and providing wireless iBook laptops for every student.
"The
first time we showed the iBook Wireless Mobile Lab carts, they
really thought it was magic... like "Okay, where are
the wires?"
- Dr. Mary Waker, Director of
Curriculum Wayne State University Detroit, Michigan.
Greene County Schools, Snow Hill, NC
In this rural community, many children live south of the digital
divide where nearly 70 percent of the county’s students receive free or reduced-price lunches. But sweeping changes are occurring in Greene County. With the purchase of thousands of wireless iBook laptops, the distinction between the “haves” and the “have-nots” is
rapidly disappearing.
York City School District,
York, PA
In a school district where over 70 percent of the students qualify for free or
reduced-price lunches, nearly 500 students are using Apple wireless mobile labs
to build a new learning model. York City chose iBook laptops because of their
advantages in mobility and the preinstalled digital learning iLife software applications.
Rehoboth Elementary
School, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
With the Early Literacy Curriculum Mobile Lab, not only do all K-3 students have
access to rich digital content via Destination Reading, the iLife software suite,
and the wireless iBook laptops, they’re rediscovering the joy of reading.
Preliminary results show an increase in student reading scores, particularly
among Title I and English as a Second Language (ESL) students.
East Middle School,
Holland, MI
At Holland Public Schools, many teachers are seeing significant improvements
in student engagement and achievement. The ready access to iBook laptops and
the digital tools in the Science Curriculum Mobile Lab are helping students understand
difficult science concepts and fostering an air of empowerment, especially among
lower-achieving students.
West Shore School
District, West Shore, PA
With the help of a flexible, end-to-end leasing program that included hardware,
software, training, and support, West Shore School District was able to realize
its technology goals during tough economic times. Along with nearly 200 iBook
computers for teachers, students in four middle schools and two high schools
now also have access to the latest online learning tools with three iBook Wireless
Mobile Labs in each building.
Upperman High School,
Baxter, TN
This year, Upperman’s biology students will be taking iBook laptops, digital
microscopes, and science probes with them when they go on field trips to collect
specimens for experiments. With the real world tools that come in the Science
Curriculum Mobile Lab, dynamic learning is occurring and students are more engaged
in the study of science.
